A few completed projects.

The shirt I made for myself...so I'll have something pretty to wear after the baby arrives. Ryan loved the fabrics so much she asked for a dress made of it, so we'll try to get that happening for her soon.

I'm often asked what Ryan does while I sew...she plays with thread, fabric, scissors, pins, etc. She loves it, and I love that it's introducing her to sewing at an early age!

Used to be a wrap, now it's a few blankets, hats, and even a pair of pants! And it's the yummiest, softest knit. Love Wrapsody wraps!!

 
And the cute dress I whipped up for Ryan out of some pre-smocked fabric. Love that stuff...and she loves the dress.

A new coat for Peanut

In honor of the fall weather that's trying SO hard to creep into our lives (I'm welcoming it, but apparently I'm the only one), I whipped up a quick little coat for RE. Well, actually, this is a practice run, made from some totally adorable $1/yd IKEA fabric. The REAL coat will come soon, made from some fabulous loden green vintage wool given to me by my granny, but I wanted to try the pattern first on some less important fabric.

I've been trying hard to muster up energy these days (many of you know I'm a little bit knocked up at this point), and today, thanks to a lovely nights sleep and an at-home-husband, I found it!

RE loved it, which is always a bonus...I love that she's still of an age where she likes that I can make her things. I know that someday this will go away (maybe not though) and I'm enjoying and taking advantage of it while I can!

And, a nod to that summer weather that just won't quit:

A glass of wine.

After a very long day, with an exceedingly well-behaved and patient toddler, nothing is quite as lovely as a glass of red wine and some frivolous internet surfing.

What am I surfing for? Mama's Day ideas. What to make my mama, my mama-in-law, and all the other fantastic mamas I know. It must be fabulous, handmade, and quick. It needn't be the same thing for each. It does need to be awesome.

Time? (can I buy that somewhere?)
Chocolate? (I can make fudge!)

What do I want most for Mama's Day this year?

Time. With the kid, with the husband, with myself. With my fabulous friends.

And a glass of wine.

And maybe, what I should give my friends is a bottle of wine and an hour.

Something to keep her busy...

This has got to be one of my most awesome creations...I'm really proud of it. I got the vague idea from another website, but then forgot it, and thus, created my own. And my own little people and other "stuff" to go on it. RE calls it her planet, and on it, her people can do as they please. She's only seen it once, and it will be unveiled on the airplane this week...should be a hit!

Skirts Galore!

Ballet for the tiny ballerina. Well, she thinks she's a tiny ballerina. This is a birthday skirt...I'll post pictures of the doll that "matches" as soon as she's finished. A tee shirt dress I meant to finish last year...it'll still fit, but not for long!
Her owl skirt...I bit longer than I wanted it to be, but awfully cute.
The dot fabric was in my scrap stash, and I had just enough for the edges.

Curtains!

I'm crossing stuff off my to do list...so I finally finished these darn curtains. I love the way they look...I just attached a strip of the cool grey fabric to the tops of the old curtains, et voila! New curtains! And it looks like it's a valance, but it's not. I rarely actually open the curtains...they're so sheer you can see right through them, but they block just enough that I feel like I can leave the blinds up. I hate mini-blinds. They're a little bit evil, not to mention ugly. With the valance, you can barely see them (yep, they're down in the pictures...my bad).

I'm working on a small narrow curtain for the back door...mini-blinds on a door? Seriously?

Quick and Dirty Ring Sling for RE

Morning will tell if this fits her...and no, the doll is not hers yet. She needs hair! And her face isn't sewn on yet. And RE has to wait until the 29th. But the ring sling she can have tomorrow. Took 20 minutes at a WAY too late hour of the morning.

My new table...and pillows...and picture board.

I love this a lot. I love the fabric, love the colors, and love the tall table that hides bins of store stuff! And love that I've chosen to stash my projects on top of the table. Of course, the idea is to have just the current projects up there, and keep the junk to a minimum, but I am a cluttered person, and I'm going to make peace with that. So, this fabric matches my pillows, my picture board, and eventually, my curtains (next project).

Kid Mei Tai

I made one of these for RE ages ago, and then another for our friend's daughter whose little sister has now requested one for her birthday, too! This one was made with velcro at the waist, and on the body and straps, in the hopes that this 3 year old will be able to do it herself (or at least mostly). RE wouldn't wear it long enough to try it herself, though she did deem it "comfy" and told me that she really liked it and needed to share it with Ann (which to her, means, she should get to keep it). Maybe, if she's good, she'll get one for her birthday, too.

For those who are playing along at home, measurements are:
Body: 11x14"
Top straps: 3x35"
Waist straps: 3x14"

Once it's all sewn together, grab your favorite 3 year old to decide where to place the velcro. I just winged it, as I do most things, so I don't have specific measurements on this part.

Apples, Apples, Apples

Nothing says fall like apples, and even moreso, cute little girls in apple-y outfits!!
The apple is appliqued to the shirt, and the pants needed to be a little longer for miss Long Legs, so I added a cute green ribbon at the seam...adorableness!

It's almost Fall...and apples are in season

As many of you know, I love apple pie. Not just a little bit, but obsessively, and wholeheartedly. I make it many times each fall, believing that apple pie is no worse than some sugary cereals as a breakfast food. After all, there are apples in it, right?

So, 2 years ago, when I found this apple fabric at a great shop on Bainbridge Island, I had to have. It's been sitting in my stack for ages, waiting for the right time, which happened to be last week. So, I whipped up this jumper, pants, and an applilqued T-shirt for RE. She loves it all, and referred to the pants as her "party pants". It's a success.
