When I was your age...

I feel old everytime I drive past a gas station. Why? Because every single time, without fail, I say to myself, or to Ryan, "I remember when gas was only a dollar".

Then I got excited when I saw gas for $4.01 today. Then I got sad that I got excited about that. That's actually the cheapest it's been in ages. I think I'm going to move somewhere less desirable, where life is less expensive. Well, not really. I plan to die here in the PNW. You can't get me out of here, sorry.

But, let's make this interactive (for the 3 or 4 of you who read my blog. Blogging is such an exercise in narcissism.). Fill in the blank: "When I was your age..."

I'm OLD. I remember gas at 63 cents.

I think I was 8 years old. My parents were re-doing the walls and floors in the upstairs of their house. I wrote out a paper with the current price of common things on it. Gas being 63 cents is one that sticks out in my head.

And apparently I can't finish my thoughts LOL because the point of the piece of paper I wrote out was I put it behind the trim around my bedroom door, so maybe someone will find it in 20 years. :)

When I was your age... oh wait, I AM your age. Let's try this again:
When I was your age, we watched Saturday morning cartoons, not Hannah Montana. We played Oregon Trail on Apple IIGS and there was no email. Kids dressed like kids not Bratz dolls. And...we walked uphill in the snow to school. Both way. Barefoot! :)

We didn't have cell phones, cordless phones were rare and I used to get into a tangled knot with the real phone cords! Those were the days :)
